Suicide
The wild sky, the fluid night
The cynic stars that watch us cry
The pallor moon that sees us die
As Bertha saw the bird take flight
So I go, goodbye
godnight

This is one of those poems that gains a tremendous amount when read out loud: Great flow, fantastic word choice, amazingly beautiful.

This has a really elegant simplicity to it, not in context but in structure. It has the quality of a great folk song, a nice easy rhythm and impressive depth for such a small amount of words. I love it.

the poem is about jumping to commit suicide. In Jane Eyre, Bertha jumped because she was insane, in this poem the person is not insane. At least not in the same way.
