CAUGHT IN THE FLAME..(sonnet)

Drenched by his power, splayed 'pon lust's fire
Her spirit calls this night to calm the flame,
Engulfed by passion, torn by desire
She seeks, as night doth but whisper her name.
Perched 'pon his alter he ponders this night
Esurient eyes fall 'pon beauty's soul,
Doth he replete, to again taste delights
Or unto her flame to care and console?
Torn 'tween passion of fervent desire
And a call unto his heart's blackened core,
Seduced by beauty, tranced by lust's fire
'Tis the call he can no longer ignore.
Ashes to ashes and dust unto dust,
The battle doth reign, 'tween love and of lust.

Great piece! Are you familiar with Shakespears "Venus and Adonis"? There is a particular portion of this poem im referring two where love and lust are compared, I thought of this while reading your sonnet. The last Couplet does me in!

"The battle doth reign, 'tween love and lust"...The eternal battle of people who are alive, cause all others live for lust but not for love. You got it perfectly.
