the shell

kicking along a deserted beach in my dreams
cold waves lap at my sun burned toes
searching for treasures from the deep

gulls cry mourning the end of another lonely winter day
sifting through shards of broken dreams
each one a treasure from days gone by

up ahead, a glimmer of hope in the fading light
i carefully brush back the layers of sand
and lift her high into the winter sky for the world to see

"she's beautiful" i cry as i examine my treasure
perfect in form, colors bursting from within
my long search is finally over

small imperfections tell of storms weathered in the past
only adding to her hypnotic beauty
now i know she is all mine, mine at last

I like it, making something so simple as a shell, beautiful. My favorite lines: "she's beautiful" i cry as i examine my treasure
perfect in form, colors bursting from within
my long search is finally over". Good job!

Aww, that is sweet. All that about a shell. Wonderful. I love the line "sifting through shards of broken dreams." It's fantastic. The last stanza is especially beautiful. Nice work!
