smile
Fake smiles, hidden tears
stupid lies, childish fears
twisted minds, demented souls
the way this evil curse controlls
forsaken thoughts, forgotten past
sent to me in great miscast
smokey eyes, tattered dress
makeup smeared, hair's a mess
shoe's untied, trip and fall
books thus thrown across the hall
get back up, try to smile
they point and laugh, words are vile
bell rings, late again
somehow you know, you'll never win
pencil breaks, paper rips
flaw again, patience slips
fall asleep, time to go
you were dreaming, did they know
you awake, all alone
only if you would've known
people left, air is cold
staying sane, hard to hold
call back home, get a ride
waiting in the rain outside
car pulls up, get inside
mother stares, try to hide
you've been crying, you fear she'll ask
try and hide behind the mask
look away, don't respond
mind is lost, look beyond
pain and grief
the disbelief
