Best to Love
18 February 2007
We can make up, break up,
or even tie love in a knot.
But to be best friends,
we will always forgive
one and another and
know this was true.
As if not to take too lightly,
those words of 'I love you'.
For to love a friend and be in love,
this was more than hope,
greater than pretend.
My darling, my truthful one,
the woman I sleep with in rest.
You know you are my every thing,
and most certainly a friend of best.
For tomorrow we dream our yesterday,
in a knowledge we may not always be right.
Then to know and understand,
best is best, and 'I love you',
my best friend and lover true.
