Conversing About Rights
I hear war lords conversing about rights
each claims blessings from God
for the slaughter of others to right a wrong.
Each postures right to righteousness
to justify their kill
in the name of God, good, and freedom.
You, who fight for human rights do you,
tell your children that killing is a right
given to who wins the fight?
Can your neighbor kill you for profit,
cleanup your neighborhood to free your family?
You say, "That's different. To simplified."
Claiming, "The bad must be destroyed!"
In the cheer and pomp of universal judge and jury.
Fancy your target taking you out.
Where is God while humanity is aghast
with those who set the kill as patriotic
resting in harbors, conversing about rights.

| I loved the message in this one. It pinpoints the hypocritcal nature of our country. Especially the line "we are the self-proclaimed judge, and jury of the world" That line just brought all my ire at the US to the forefront because I don't think we should be the world's police, and every time someone mentions something about us doing something else to control someone else's government I have to walk away in order to keep from being angry. |
