Mangos
People are like fruit.
Have you eaten a mango timidly?
Because of its juiciness and messiness
not enjoyed it as much
as if you had eaten it in the bathtub.
Letting it drip all over,
mushy and sweet?
With a banana, there is no mess.
A grape you just pop in your mouth
and it explodes with flavor.
Oranges and apples are proper foods
Mangos are body food
delicious and nourishing.
Not one fruit is better than any another.
just different, like people.
some are emotionally tidy others sloppy.
But just as a banana does not need to be a mango,
a person does not need to be
like any other.

a good message to be heard.
got to hate it when that grape sours and becomes a shrivled shell of itself.
or does the raisin finally begin to feel good about themself and explode with happiness and flavor? |

Dear Mirelena,
Thank you for your comment on Mangos. Most of the time I am a mango, all my flavor is under the peel.

| Wow, interesting metaphor. I do see the truth in what you are saying. Sometimes I feel like an apple, looks pretty on the outside and tases ogood but has no nutritional value. But right now I suppose I'm a peach. Tastes book inside and soft on the outside. Sorry, y our poem just got me thinking. That is what good writing is supposed to do, cause a person to reexamine their perspective on life. Well, you accomplished that. Nice job. |
