The days fall like leaves
Some full
Some empty
Some in between
Time; a ghost on my shoulder
She whispers to me
As I wade through the dust for a memory

Another day
Another leaf from our tree
It withers
In the same sun which once let it breathe
I reminisce
And rake my hands across the sky
Gathering dreams for my sleep
For a tear on my pillow

I miss you

In this circle I move
Forever
Or so it would seem
But when you return
Together, we'll sit beneath our tree,
and play out the days as we please
Time
stands still
The leaves no longer falling on me
Falling instead in secrecy
One by one
They tumble, unaware
That some day they'll cause our tree
To stand alone
bare

We'll miss you
