You Were Right

Maybe one day,
I'll be able to read what you've written
from a point
of complete
objectivity.
Maybe one day,
I'll be able to judge your words
solely on their literary merit,
and,
at some undetermined distance removed,
I'll be able to offer
detached but constructive criticism,
and talk about rhythm and flow
and symbolism
and iambic pentameters
and other stuff
that I know
you really don't care about.
Maybe one day,
I'll be able
to leave a critique
that says more than just
"fuck... I love you."

But, no, you were right.
Not today.

I love YellowJacket's response.

Anyway, I know about everything you've written in your poem. Every, single word. It's not easy being objective. It's what we try, but we see pieces of ourselves, and how can we possibly be unbiased about it?

Bookshelved because it's nice to see in words what I can't express to a certain someone at times. Thank you, Stevie, for saying what I can't.
