Expanding

Expanding houses
in the subburbs
while the cities
slowly moves in closer

In the bus
a middle aged woman
starts to cry
and gets of
just before we turn
the next corner

The poem itself seems to turn a corner here, which is very effective. Sense of ennui. The anonymous nature of it is almost threatening.
