What a Bother, that Devil.
Bored on a Friday night or a Saturday afternoon, Billy Taufuss walked into the living room to find the Devil sitting on the couch watching television. Somehow the Beast had managed to get the television remote and had it clutched with long flaky fingers. His red dusty skin, large horns and evil glare did not illicit from Billy's heart any effect, not even a twitch. He turned to Billy and grunted but didn't seem too interested that the boy had walked in on him watching television.
Billy said "Devil, why are you here?"
"I am simply watching television,' replied the Devil. 'It's quite normal."
Billy gave a long sigh and thought to himself that the Beast was right, it was quite normal. Besides, he wasn't bothering anyone. He hadn't even tried to steal Billy's soul. He had simply sighed and grunted. The program didn't look too interesting anyway.
The hideous Devil then told Billy that he was hungry and asked if the boy would make him a sandwich. Billy had no desire to make his sandwich, but realized that he also was slightly hungry. The boy sighed, shook his head, left the living room and headed for the kitchen. Billy walked into the kitchen to find the Devil slouching on the counter, eating chocolate from a plastic bag. Billy Taufuss didn't notice him at first, that Devil, so he opened up the cabinet in search of bread.
Billy then said, "Devil, why are you here?"
"This is the kitchen isn't it?' replied the Devil. 'I'm here to eat."
The boy gave a long sigh and thought to himself that the Beast was right. This was the kitchen and this is where Billy came to eat. Besides, he wasn't bothering anyone. The Devil hadn't even tried to steal Billy's soul. The Beast had simply slouched and eaten; his chocolate didn't look all that good anyway. The Boy sighed and took the chocolate away from him. Billy then left the kitchen and headed for the living room. He walked into the living room to find the Devil sitting on the couch watching television.
Billy said, "Devil, why are you here?"
"I am simply watching television,' replied the Devil. 'It's quite normal."
Billy gave a long sigh and thought to himself that the Devil was right, it was quite normal. Besides, the Beast wasn't bothering anyone. He hadn't even tried to steal Billy's soul. He had simply grunted; his television show didn't look all that interesting anyway. Billy took his seat right beside that Devil, elbow to elbow and one shoulder to another. They stared blankly at the television. Billy looked out the window at the Friday night or Saturday afternoon and thought to himself that there was nothing to do, just a normal day.
The boy gave a long sigh and thought to himself that he was right, it was quite normal. Besides he wasn't bothering anyone, he hadn't even lost his soul. He had simply sighed and shook his head. So there he sat, on the couch, sharing with the Devil chocolate that didn't taste too good and watching a show that wasn't too interesting.
