Sue Happy

Topic: Courts
Exerpt from the news:

By Emanuella Grinberg
Court TV
A blind and deaf Australian woman who claims she never should have been born is suing a doctor for a lifetime of suffering in the country's first "wrongful life" suit.

Alexia Harriton, 24, is seeking compensation from the doctor who misdiagnosed rubella in the first trimester of her mother's pregnancy, claiming Olga Harriton would have aborted her had she been aware of the potential birth defects arising from the illness.

Lawyers for the Sydney woman argued in Australia's highest court Thursday that Dr. Paul Stephens is liable for the costs arising from a lifetime of medical treatment that Harriton needs to survive.

His negligence resulted in the birth of a child who is "profoundly disabled," a media spokesperson for the law firm representing Harriton told Courttv.com.

MY TURN:

Have they never heard of HELEN KELLER?! She blind & deaf, and look how many wonderfully AMAZING things she has created and accomplished in her lifetime. What a TERRIBLE loss and tragedy it would have been had her mother aborted her just because she found out she would become deaf, blind & mute!!

Also, I'm wondering if this woman is so "messed up" how on earth she came to the conclusion to sue anyone??! Well, we know how - it was planted into her head to do so.

Have we really become such a greedy (gimme-gimme) society that now we are going to start suing doctors for letting us LIVE!

And I'm wondering how God is reacting to hearing that this woman rather be dead then to live the precious life she had been given, no matter how less than perfect it may be. Worse yet, I can't believe her mother would say "Had I known what you were going to turn out like I would have aborted you" (I'm sure not in those words, but that's basically what she's saying) -- HOW HORRIBLE!

I can't fully comprehend what it is like to live life with such handicaps and I thank GOD that those crosses have not been place on me to bear, but I also can't understand why we are trying to sue someone for allowing us the chance at LIFE!

It just hurts me to see what this world has come to when there could be so much beauty, so much love, so much joy for everyone and yet we bicker and argue and try to "Get what's ours" any way we can. All the while not caring who we run over, hurt or even kill in the process.

When you can sue because you're coffee's too hot you think you've hit the bottom! But we've hit an all time low because now we can sue you for allowing us to live!!

There seems to be a never ending pit of ridiculous and absurd actions taken by people of all walks of life these days, to the point where I'm half-ashamed to claim being a part of this 'humane race'.

God helps us all.
