End of an Era

If I wanted you to say you love me
I would only be broken hearted,
My love escapes from my heart
Like the leaves fall from the trees,
It is predictable, scary at times
But not for the heart brave enough to let love in,
For the soul which wants to be shared
Cannot be stopped or deterred
It's path can only change like the wind.
The leaves have already left the tree
As you have left my heart
Yet I will grow and spring will bloom,
For even though my hope in others may fail
The seasons and my hope in me remain.
My heart the only thing I can rely on
My head to guide my path from you
And my love to make it last.
