The Gemini

Bland serendipity, hapless sheep
Smiling and passing pamphlets

Assuming responsibility
for common sensibilities
And popular morality?
Screw that

Little cardboard queen
She doesn't know the sting
Of rain in a hurricane
(Or the heady renewel
Of feeling her heart shatter)
Her fear of darkness
Denies her the depth
To show her the way to the moon
Her shadow will shrivel soon...
It's nearly too late

She was shackled to tepidity
She'd never learned to fly
So I broke the mirror
And I watched her die
Then in the shards of broken glass
I found the Gemini
