The Cat & the Canary

Sun and solemnity sink in the sky,
melancholy sadness
lids closed over eyes
sweet intoxication
exquisite as a formation
of starlings in flight
you, my alarm call
the day to my night
strange parallels of elation
and descent
absensce creates perfectly opposed emotions
feelings so contrary
serenade as a restless canary
extreme weather conditions
impositions
rain mixed with sun
creates prismatic colours
as my tears
mingle with yearning
strange states of being
logic fleeing
angels and demons
all spirits evoked
a cat curled up
in the hearth of my heart
longing to be stroked
your absence is a
sticky picky
abscess
poignant and prominent
the idea of you
omnipotent.

Brava! Worth a few re-reads. A rarity in poetry. Resonates. - Bryon
