The Book of Crow - Part 3

Of course, whenever she started to think like this, they all got on her back. They told her she was perfect the way she was. They told her she was a hero, she was wonderful. But how could they know, really, they lived inside her head. They didn't see what really went on in the real world. And they didn't know what it was like to be a human, much less a very small person with bumps on her knees and silly glasses who nobody liked.

Just as she was thinking this, like she had known they would, they all started talking to her, all at once, protesting, and growling, and reassuring, at a hundred miles an hour.

Goddira told her to toughen up. Darvfarius just growled and said she should 'get over it'. Smigloppitus told her she was the coolest girl human he knew, and she should start acting like she was instead of being such a wuss, and then laughed his silly laugh that made him sound like a donkey instead of a small purple dragon. Jammymee rapped him lightly on the nose and told him to be serious and then (very seriously), she told Rainy that she was the prettiest, sweetest little cookie of a person, and, if she could, she'd give her the biggest, wettest smooch, right on the nose, and make her feel all better.

'Yeah, and knowing you, you'd burn it right off!' snorted Goddira.

'Hey! I would not! I know how to do it now. Before I was just ...'

'A complete bimbo?' sneered Goddira.

'A comprehensive ignoramus?' sniggered Smigglopitus.

'Hey!' cried Rainy. 'Why don't you leave Jammymee alone. 'She was just trying to be nice!'

'All right, all right!' chucked Smigloppitus. My most sincere apologies, Miss Jammymee. I take my leave of you with most ardent declarations of your un-ingnoramus-ness!'

And at once, he disappeared from Rainy's head.

'Trying to be nice, hey?' snarled Darvfarius. 'And is that what you were doing this morning when 'The Disciples' started to beat up on you again?'The Disciples was what he called The Gang. He called them that because he reckoned they did everything Christopher Bullen told them to, as if he was Jesus.

'No! I just ... dropped my books and ... one hit Chris on the toe and ... it was my fault really ... and ...' Rainy stammered. Darvfarius scared her sometimes. She always felt like she was a complete idiot when she was talking to him, even though she knew he was her friend, really. It was just that he was so ... old and smart, and always knew the right answer.

'It's not your fault Christopher Bullen is a complete beast!' grumbled Goddira.

'I know. I just ... keep doing the wrong thing and it makes him mad and ...'

'Makes who mad?' said a voice from outside Rainy's head. She quickly snapped out and found herself facing Nurse Jennesis, who was looking at Rainy as though she had gone completely bonkers.

This is a very interesting story. I look forward to seeing more description of the setting as the story progresses. Iβ??d like to see more of an explanation of where the voices are coming from, imagined or other wise. Perhaps an answer to why there is a nurse standing in front of her. Maybe sheβ??s in a hospital psycho ward? Iβ??ll be looking for more to the story, if there is any more?
