Love me for who I am
Love me for who I am
If you choose to love me, love me for who I am.
Do not judge me on my past, for I am not perfect.
Only judge me for love and love only.
Do not criticize me for past treats regretted.
If you choose to love me, love me for who I am.
When we spend time with one another, let me be myself.
Foolish, Crazy , Smart, Humorous, and many, many more.
Do not make me self conscious, or self consumed.
I want to make you feel important, as do I want to feel important.
If you choose to love me, love me for who I am.
Not for what I was in the past.
Nor for what I can be.
But love me for who I am and what we can be together.
If you choose to love me, love me for who I am.

| This is a very wise and beautifully written piece, it doesn't read with anger or panic but with a much softer wishful feel to it. I really like this. |

Snowflake: This is absolutely beautifully expressed in a low tempered tone...almost as if you are speaking the words to your love.
I love the tone it plays on my tongue and the wisdom that rings in each line. I met my husband in the most adverse manner and did not want to talk to him because of his current situation. I misjudged him when I found out where he was before talking to him. Guess what? I'm in love with him and I MARRIED HIM! LOL. Now how crazy is that? He is wonderful and this reminds me of him, of us. He was afraid to tell me of his past, but as you have written:
"When we spend time with one another, let me be myself.
Foolish, Crazy , Smart, Humorous, and many, many more.
Do not make me self conscious, or self consumed.
I want to make you feel important, as do I want to feel important."
I have given him the space to be himself and to be as wild and crazy as he wants to be within "us" (our relationship). I love him to death and the pic that you see is our marriage picture. He looks sad because a week before our marriage he lost his Mom. We dedicated the wedding day to her before she unexpectedly passed on. Her desire was for us to marry so we did.
Beautifully written and extremely well versed.

Very wise words which can be taken to heart and pulled out daily as a mantra. It is as though there is a zone that as it approaches NOW the past, present, and future all get muddled together and love gets mixed in roughly. The line "love has no memory" runs through my head as I read your piece.
I like how you incorporate the future also, that is an angle that most neglect. Very powerful piece!! |

Snowflake, a very frank poem. to the point and a wishfull wish, i wonder if it is possible, such a contrast from your poem, "soulmate" i feel some frustration and nager here, perhaps i am wrong, where in the poem, soulmate, i felt a free and unconditional love being espressed. Still a talented read, thank you.
