Cheer in your ear

I hate to see you cry
Though I'm not your guy
I do a little for you
Put some cheer in your
Ear
'cause it's all I can do

A triumph of sprit over
Adversity
Is distance rendered
You seem suspended
In private thought
I wonder what ideas
You court

I can tell a lie
But it takes effort to tell it
If you don't know I can spell it
E V E R Y T H I N G I S F I NE
But still'¦

I hate to see you cry
Though I'm not your guy
I do a little for you
Put some cheer in your
Ear
'cause it's all I can do

This is bloody good. It's got that whole bitter-sweet lyrical thing going on, and it's easy to relate to (having been on both sides of the situation you describe).

Best lines in my opinion. I love the mental picture that draws.

This poem illustrates very well the difficulty of being in that position "the shoulder to cry on". I particularly like the third stanza because of it's stark honesty. That is the hardest lie to tell.

I enjoyed the first two stanzas, but this poem seemed to wander off after that. I would suggest that you drop the last stanza, and rework the third one for a stronger finish. Just a suggestion.
