He was a Loner
News spill of blood and gore
People speak of fear more
He was a killer on sheer rage
A bird suddenly out of the cage
He was a loner
Thirty two people cut off from life
Leaving traces of pain and strife
In class, he was always in a corner
Maybe he too cannot go on further
He was a loner
Candles lit for souls departed
Confusion and so much hatred
He said nothing, no clues to find
Trapped in a dangerous mind
He was a loner
The world froze for a tragedy
Buckets of guilt are plenty
He hunted for human breath
And thus he trailed to his death
He was a loner
Heavy hearts with utter disbelief
Days will pass with stains of grief
He has a name attached to killing
History of his face will have bearing
He was a loner
So many questions are left unanswered
Parents, teachers and schoolmates faltered
Why he was not heard, nor seen
Different it may have been
He was a loner
Heavens cry for a beleaguering demise
Behind a gun is violence in disguise
Their ashes were from fire of apathy
In a busy world, we see blindly
He was a loner
....And I mourn for him......

Excellent
We always condemn but never see

delighted to see this back since i missed it first time around. as writers we cannot allow our thoughts to be censored or fail to address issues that are deemed controversial simply because of the vocal few in opposition - and not even if the majority were. we have to write what it is our hearts, souls and minds tell us.
i mourn for him also, that he felt driven to these horrendous acts. i mourn for him, and all others suffering psychologically and not reached by an understanding and helpful society. i mourn for the event, all the people, the whole damned day
and i mourn because i fear so little will ever be learned from this that another day will ring about another massacre - whichever country this may happen in. give up their guns? more chance of Igloos being built on the sun. |

AS you probably know, I seldom comment on poetry, and usually only on the technical side.
So, well done! Yes, people like that should be mourned - somehow, WE all failed him. No, we can't condone his actions, but maybe the world learned from what he did. Maybe your poem will help other loners realise that they can reach for help, and that they should keep looking for help, when everyone else says "pull up your socks" (or whatever the current vernacular is).
Thank you for doing what we should all do - try to understand how people really feel. |

| well done sweetheart..looking at one of the reasons why? My frustration at your country's fascination with guns is in "The right to bear arms"" I hope you read it. You have expressed your thoughts admirably and eloquently, you have given light to the other side of this senceless tragedy......society is not only to blame for "pushing" people to this point, society is also responsible for allowing guns to be so easily accessed...interesting feedback you are getting with this piece...well done...Luv Lance:) |
