Last stand

Last stand

What would it hurt
To come home early with rose in hand
To many moments away even when he's right there
This is a married man's last stand.
What would it hurt
To share a silly or a whimsical thought
Would you rather him or her see you as a lover and friend;
Or just as one or the other?
When you walked down that aisle
The decision that was at that moment made
To share it all what's yours is his what's his is hers
But now after that day is over LOVE no longer occurs.
What would it hurt
To keep up a home and a household, yes there is a difference
A household is easily interrupted, broken, and corrupted
But a home disrupts the strongest of interference.
What would it hurt
To kiss your child, your husband, or your wife
They became part of you the day you let them into your world
And they are to be valued as you value your life.
If you say he or she completes you
Then why is he or she sleeping and living alone
Love is supposed to be a rock solid stone but those days are gone
For now it is a commodity, an urban myth, an oddity,
What happened?
What would it hurt to say, 'I LOVE you'
In the middle of a crowded street or in a random call in the middle of the day
What would it hurt
To give him or her little reminders and that your LOVE
is a phrase your eyes will always say.
LOVE is strange
for I bet you're saying eyes can't talk
To answer that you'll find that it materializes on the path you walk
And if you don't seem to want or try to understand
Then my friend you are probably on your way to your:
Last stand.
