Meeting you

Cable-knit coffee date sitting in

the fall cherry-wood scented air.

Foam atop my café latte steamed

and formed into the shape

of my heart. Of things to come.

Things perfect at the moment.

Small talk floats around us

as we move inward from opposite ends

to a place in-between. Where

things change and become more

familiar

and you think that, maybe,

just maybe . . .

Ross, that first pristine connection of strangers that binds them undeniably together (if only briefly) IS a perfect moment in time. You captured it beautifully. Wanda

Some lovely imagery here, Ross. The detail in the first stanza is vivid. Good stuff. I love the theme of movement in the piece with the images 'Foam atop my café latte steamed/and formed into the shape/of my heart. Of things to come' and 'Small talk floats around us/as we move inward from opposite ends/to a place in-between' These simple acts of movement are things we can all relate to and transform the ordinary into something beautiful, shedding light on an experience we have all felt at one time or another.

The mix of hope and doubt play perfectly. Really enjoyed this.

I like it very much. Thereâ??s so many flowery poems about love and so very few realistic ones. This is optimistic (of my heart. Of things to come) but human with its hesitance. I like the warmth of the descriptions too.
