captain's log

now we are
confused

and

wondering can
if this be so
that our dreams
and aspirations
have accumulated
and astound
been realized--
materialize
fulfilled
before our very
eyes

because

we send out
messages
like the ancients
in a bottle
out into
space

reaching
searching
hoping
anticipating
but not
wanting to find
that we are alone
in this universe

not expecting
a reply:

we are happy
in this place

but missing you...

and hoping you are
well

I've always wanted to find a message in a bottle. That would be so cool. This is a near future possibility. But if someone drops a bottle from space and it happens to fall to earth, I wouldn't want to get hit in the head with it. LOL But just like dreams that come true, all things are possible.

I can definitely see myself in many places with this one, too. Thanks!

i like how this can be read from so many viewpoints - from the macro of vast swathes of physical space, lost and drifting, still sending out messages like the bottle adrift on an ocean... to the micro - of personal interactions not always heard, not always listened to, missing the warmth of close contact... and through to the virtual reality of cyberspace, as we send out our missives, not expecting, but maybe hoping for a reply either from individuals we seek to make contact with, or even sending out submissions, or even awaiting them!

so many viewpoints, trace

sigh

:D
