THERE'S GOTTA BE CHANGE
Walkin' down the streets, I saw the people were a diein'
Looked into the windows, saw the mothers were a cryin'
Passed by all the graves, where our future they were liein'
Asked for Gods forgiveness, but damn he kept denyin'...
Still I prayed, someday, there's gotta be change.
I looked above and saw all the clouds were blackened tar
Beside me stood humanity, smokin' its cigar
Fish were walkin' 'pon the waters, couldn't get too far
A begger sat upon the wastelands, strummin' a guitar....
Still I smiled, someday, there's gotta be change.
I turned around and saw a crocodile was cryin'
A politician on its back, swearin' he's not lyin'
Saw Mugabe givin' aid, to the sick and to the diein'
All the guns were meltin', all the guns were fryin'..
Still I smiled, someday, there's gotta be change.
Then I looked about and saw that nobody else was there
All were in the churches, they were singin' daily prayer
The priest upon his pulpit, kept preachin' all beware
And Sunday mornin' christians, pretending that they care...
Still I prayed, someday, there's gotta be change.
So I took it 'pon myself, to take a look at who we are
Each man carries baggage, each man carries scars
When the trumpets blow and the tally it is rendered
Who will stand unconquered, who will stand untendered.
Who of us can stand upon the mountain and proclaim
When my brother's path was bleak, I offered him a flame
When the earth beneath me cried "My soul 'tis nearly bare"
Who of us did make a change, who of us did care....
And I pray someday, I know there'll be change.
