I Can't Love You
Get away from me
You're the last thing I want to deal with
Back off
Come back when I'm ready
And in case you couldn't tell
That's not today
'Listen here
If you don't act now
You'll lose her forever
Is that what you want?
If that's not your hope,
Listen closely'
But that's not where I want to go
That's not the road for me right now
I'm not ready
But what if?
What if she's gone when I'm ready?
And when I come around, she's nowhere in sight
Looks like I have some work to do
I can't love her this much anymore
I'm simply not ready
Then why is this heart still beating?
Too young for life
Not ready to take the dive
Here's the plunge I have to make
To tell my love it's over
If you're reading this, darling,
I love you
Honest to heaven I do
More so than anything before
Therein lies the ill
I can't love you yet
You aren't mine for sure
So I have a decision to make
And for now
You're not part of the picture
If you're on the other end of the 'I do's'
Then God be praised
But if not, I need to be fine with that too
I can't love like when I started writing this piece
And I think you'd want it that way
It stings a little, but that's life
Don't get me wrong
I still love you, dearly so
But as a sister, and not as a darling
Who know what the future holds for you and I
Maybe a friendship for the ages, maybe wedding vows
But I do know that for now, neither of us are ready yet
But I'll still be there for you always
Don't ever doubt that
God bless you, sister
And good night
Now the weight is off
And now I can sleep
