Jackasses and Elephants

Wherever they open their
mouths, folly and flatulence
fill air castles. They seldom
embrace enlightened visions
of a peaceful, productive
populace, but totter on the
precipice of disaster while
blindly braying and trumpeting
jaded, timeworn party lines.
A vast, unbridgeable chasm
isolates left from right;
politics before people.
The Jackass and Elephant
will never become lovers.

I see you are still a master of the drive-by alliteration! ;)

I really liked this brief tirade which showcases your trademark cynicism. What I liked the most was the closing couplet simply because I take from it an implication that if only the jackass and the elephant could be 'lovers' despite ideological differences then...well then what possible evolutions could our body politic finally undertake. Lovers don't always agree with each other but should alwasy respect and care for each other and listen to each other....

I agree with colindaris, unfair to elephants. However, right on for repugnicans. What critter would typify a Green? Something quite small, I suspect (small as a single voter?). I like your playfulness. "Timeworm"? Must'a been an earlier typo, but interesting. A Freudian typo? Fun.

At the start, I was thinkng, gosh, this is a bit unfair on Elephants! But the ending is sublime. I think all politicians should be made aware of this poem,

Well, it would be a strange sight if they did get together. Love your satirical voice in this. Right on!
