The Graduate

The Graduate

As you walk-step by step

You start to run
The world is spinning
Blurring all the colors and
Shapes

Up to the podium

Slowly emerging into the unknown
the undiscovered, unfamiliar
alone

In your green gown

It was fate we found each other
It is now fate for you to leave
Soon I'll be following you
but first
you must learn to fly

You shake hands during applause

Like a bird you have leave the nest
leaving the ones you love
and the ones you don't
You're learning to fly

You walk back to your seat

Put your game face on
And don't look back
You're flying

A different man

Flying by yourself- like everyone else once did
The beginning of a new phase in your life
A good one-full of laughter and joy
On to find yourself- the real you

I remember my Graduation just a couple of months ago. I was kinda nervous since I was going to be going out into "The Real World" after that. It all turned out pretty cool though. Nice to read your take on it.

An interesting take on the whole picture. You should be careful of typos such as the one in the line "Like a bird you have leave the nest." I'm sure you mean "left the nest."
Good work! ;-)

I felt the same exact way after I graduated from high school. The funny thing with me was that I was really sick commencement night and was almost passed out on the football field :) Anyways, it's a cool way to phrase achievement.
