The Green-Eyed Monster

I wrote this poem almost a year ago, but I felt like I needed to post it here.

Jealousy
Will eat your heart
Rip you to shreds
And tear your life apart.

Jealousy
A loss of control
It will take you over
And consume your soul.

Jealousy
Will hold you back
Distort your view
And throw you out of whack.

Jealousy
Twists and bends
Ties you into knots
As your heart descends.

Jealousy
Will spiral down
Deep in unconsciousness
And drag you underground.

You covered the subject well. I've been physically ill from jealousy. There is a law at work here, I think (maybe you can enlighten me if I am not correct), but jealousy is equal to the passion in a relationship; it's a reciprocal equation. I think real 'adults' have overcome the negative half of the equation ... too often immature love carries too damned much POSSESS.

You have a great sense rhythm. You know what I would like to see you do? Rhyme the last word of each stanza with the last word of the next.

For instance:

Jealousy
Will hold you back
Distort your view
And throw you out of whack.

Jealousy
Twists and bends
Ties you into knots
As your heart descends. (then here try to rhyme whack)

I love this poem. I don't know what made me think of giving you this idea. Maybe it's because I like to be challenged too. :-)

Beautifully done.

This is such a true stanza that sets the stage for a brutally honest piece. Great work!
