We share the stars

We share the stars

Stars slip in the ocean
our love lies on a beach
I stretch out my arm though
I know it will not reach

your delicate wee frame
your fingers stretched to me
and all that I can hold
that silver memory

Slow-dancing the shoreline
Sangria and sweet kiss
Time dissolves to nothing
while waves keep whispering 'wish'¦'

So now I wish on stars
from half way round the world
for one more moonlit dance
one chance to kiss the girl

This last cold-comfort drink
as icy storm rain falls
helps me to embrace sleep
forget about these walls

that aren't the ones we chose
to hang our pictures from
where you lull me to sleep
without the need for Rum

Our house that's nestled safe
in shadow of the hill
above old Belfast's lough
to me is beauty still

while new frontiers are gold
and exploration key
those greatest treasures all
are shared discoveries

So sad and beautiful. Turning the page on a love story's never easy. You expressed it very well.
