A Ruined Creation...
Alright so I got in one of my writing moods'¦.haha so I wrote this'¦these are just my thought, my opinions, and my ideas. In no way does that make this fact nor fiction, but I hope you will read this anyways and perhaps learn a thing or two.
A Ruined Creation'¦
What if you woke up one day and when you looked into the mirror you no longer recognized who you were. What if you went so far trying to create this false image that you lost site of what's important, of what truly mattered? Has it really gotten to the point in this society, where the image we're created in is no longer important? Stop just for a second and think about this'¦
We all have one thing in common, no matter what you may believe in, whether you're religious or not, with disregard to your sex or race. We are all created a certain way, in a certain image. We are all born with a certain facial and body structure. We are given a certain hair color, eye color, etc'¦.All these things we are given, each making us unique Do we really have any right to alter this? Growing up as a child, at such an early age we get sucked into the standards of society. We lose our innocence and simplicity at such a young age. As a young girl you play with Barbie, a pretty, young, blonde, thin doll. Even just through a toy, you begin to develop this image of what you're supposed to look like. You grow older, you buy magazines and you see models, you see actresses, you see people who in your eyes look so much better then you. You begin to think 'if only I could look like her, then life would be good, then I would get noticed.'¯ You turn on the TV and you see commercials, for makeup, diet pills, and designer clothes. You get this idea in your head that you have to wear makeup in order to be pretty, you have to be thin in order to be noticed, and you have to dress a certain way in order to matter. All this just keeps getting pumped into your head, sometimes it even gets to the point where you'll do just about anything to be seen as what society views as 'perfect.'¯ You dye your hair because well your hair color isn't good enough; you get color contacts because well blue and green eyes are considered to be pretty. You go tanning because God forbid you are pale and you don't even stop to think about the damage you're doing to your skin.
'I am so fat,'¯ you begin to think, so you begin to work out'¦.this is good, nothing wrong with being healthy, but 'I just want to take the easy way out, I'll just start taking diet pills, or maybe I'll stop eating, maybe I'll throw up a few times after I eat.'¯ Those few times turn into many. Bulimia'¦Anorexia'¦Eating disorders'¦.I'm sure these are all things we are aware of. We have either been a victim to one or know someone who has. Then we come up with ideas such as plastic surgery. First just simply beginning as a minor alteration, and then soon developing into an infatuation, spending thousands and thousands of dollars just to obtain a certain look. All of this just for that image. All for the American dream. Looking back was it worth it? The pains, the money lost just to become something you're not, and as you glance into the mirror you see not the face you once knew and called your own but you see the face of a lost and broken dream. You've become as plastic as that doll you once played with. If perfection was meant to be achieved then we would've been created that way.
If you have read all of this, then I can only hope you realize; we are all guilty of these things, some of us more to the extremity. Why is this? I have an idea; we are conditioned to be this way. It's indeed a sad and unfortunate thing but true in its state. Will we ever break free of society's hold? At this point in time it's not certain, but it's something to ponder. One thing that remains certain however is that change begins with YOU.
