Autumn Fern
(This was previously published at Poetic Hours in November 2005.)
Autumn Fern
Bronze-green, autumn-colored leaves turn early,
The fern doesn't have a season of bloom,
Six circular thick spots on a leaf bends it to curtsey,
Mold the stem into a gentle curve.
Scales give base a rough feel to my touch,
Symbolic of a fascination to nature,
The flower's an emblem for graceful things,
A wonder, it means sincerity to others.
