By Dawn's Light - Ch. 25

Chapter 25: I've Never

Marty gave a surprisingly evil little grin and jabbed Lily a few more times as she started to squirm away from his hand - a task made a bit difficult by the fact that she had her legs locked around him, which stopped either of them going anywhere.

"Hey! Get out of it, pipsqueak!" But he didn't, and continued to poke the surprisingly ticklish first mate into submission. Finally relinquishing both her hold on him, Lily grumbled and tossed the cards back at him. "Fine! Take them! But I'll have you know, I'm not ticklish. I just don't like people poking me." she lied.

"Yeah, whatever you reckon." Marty grinned, but recieved a flick in the back of the ear which he gave a little yelp at.

"Well. That was fun while it lasted." Tyler commented, looking around the room until his eyes fell upon some of the books on the desk. "Hey, are those stories or 'How to' things?" he asked, pointing at them.

"Log books and information. You can read all about how to tie a knot, but if I ever catch you reading the logs I'll chop off all your fingers and use them to pry your eyes out of your skull." she threatened, the look in her eyes clearly telling them she was to be obeyed at all costs.

"Oookay. No reading. Gotcha. Hm...How about we tell stories to pass the time?" Tyler then suggested.

"Yeah!" Marty finally agreed. "Oh my god. I got this awesome one about how he got stage fright in grade four and was so embarrassed that he nearly wet himself in front of everyone." he cackled, gesturing to his brother.

"Hey! I did not! You lying little-..."

"Shut up." Lily cut him off. "I don't want to hear about your bodily functions." she grumbled. "I've got enough of my own to worry about without you rodents making me feel more sick."

"Well that's not our fault. You were the one who drank so-..." now was the time for silence, and so Tyler just closed his mouth at the look on her face.

"Good doggy." she sourly remarked. Closing her eyes and resting her elbow upon the arm rest, Lily covered her eyes with the same hand in hopes that it would make the headache go away. No such luck, but it made her feel better as the others broke out into a quiet chatter between them. Marty did much the same thing, leaning his head back against the chair and shutting his eyes, as they'd left him out of the conversation.

"Hey, we should totally play "I've Never". Though we'd have to find someone with a bottle of rum handy..." Tyler cleared his throat. Hint hint. A smirk crossed Lily's face as she sat there.

"You really want to challenge me, of all people, to a drinking game?" she asked, opening her eyes.

"Yeah, why not. It'll be fun since we're all locked up in here. And technically we're not really breaking any underage laws since there aren't really any laws out here. We'll just claim you as a responsible adult." that was a joke if they ever did hear one.

"Alright then. How do we play?"

"Well, We go around the room and say "I've never..." followed by an event. Like, I could say that I've never kissed anyone before. If it's true and I've kissed anyone, I have to take a drink, as does everyone else at the table if it applies to them. If it's not true, then they don't drink and wait for the next one. We each go around the circle and say that we've never done something."

"Hm...Guess drinking more is one way to get rid of this headache. And it'll make you all more tolerable." Lily then tilted her head back towards the door, listening for a moment. "BILL!" they heard a few clunks and clatters for a moment before the door creaked open and one of the pirates poked his head in. "Mind getting us a bottle of rum and some shot glasses?"

"Sure, I can do that for ya." he gave her a little tip of his hat and disappeared, locking the door behind him as he went to fetch what the first mate had ordered. Lily soon had a short stack of the small crystal glasses and an unlabelled green bottle sitting on the little table next to the armchair. Marty moved it around to the front so that they could all crowd around as the drinks were poured.

"You in on this, squirt?"

"Got anything non alcoholic?"

"There's half a bottle of water over there by my bunk." she offered, and he quickly went to fetch it. Once the drinks were poured, it was time to start.

"You have to go first since it was your idea, Tyler." Alison remarked, and the boy gave a nod.

"Alright. Ummm...I've never...kissed a guy." All three girls in the room took a drink, nearly spitting the rum everywhere anyway at the question. Marty went next.

"I've never cheated when playing a game." everyone drank this time. "Hah! I knew it!" Marty practically yelled, pointing at his brother.

"Yeah yeah. Alison?"

"I've never kissed a girl while drunk." Tyler and Alison took a drink this time, and they all burst out laughing. "What? Like I said, I was drunk." she grinned. "Kirra, you are so up next."

"Ugh. Alright. Um. I've never..." she trailed off, thinking hard for a good statement that she could make. One hand came up to tug on her dark ringlets for a moment. "I've never gone past first base with anyone." they paused for a moment while Marty had the job of attempting to explain to Lily what the slang meant.

"Hah! How many do I need to drink for THAT one?" she quickly downed her shot of rum while the others laughed. Eying each other, everyone else except Marty drank which got a snort and a moment in whch they tried not to choke on the vile liquid and their laughter.

"I feel so left out." another round of laughter went around at the youngest's comment. Even the full-blooded pirate gave a chuckle at that. "Alright Lily. Your turn."

"I've never liked two guys at the same time." she smirked, looking dead at Kirra. The Fijian was forced to drink, as was Alison.

"Oooooh! Naughty!"

"Ooh! Ooh! Pick me! I've got one!" Marty waved his hand around.

"Shut up! We're going in order." it got a grumble from the youngest, and he waited impatiently as they circled the room all too slowly for his liking. Finally it was his turn, and he was allowed to ask his question.

"I've never..." they all leaned closer, getting ready to grab their drinks. "I've never thought about, or wanted to have a child."

"Oh my god! You're such an evil little bugger!" Kirra and Alison both drank, stating their reason as thought about what it would be like having one.

Lily was deathly silent, however, yet still took a drink. Downing the rum in a single gulp, she turned over the shot with hard, darkened eyes and slammed it down upon the table. Getting up, she pushed the table out of the way and promptly kicked the door open after grabbing the sunglasses and putting them on.

"I'm done."

She had growled lowly, her voice barely audible. It was clear that there was something she had to be pissed off about. It was a fairly innocent statement, really. The others sat there quietly as the first mate stormed out onto the deck. What the hell had just happened there? Did Marty know something that they didn't?

"Ouch. Touchy." Tyler gave a bit of a shiver as the door was locked on them once more by the guy apparently known as Bill. Thankfully the kick hadn't damaged the door itself as he'd been in the process of finding the right key to shut it anyway. It had done more damage to his shoulder than anything else, though he'd wondered what they'd said to piss the first mate off. Now that he was looking around, he saw her ordering men around as per usual, if a bit more hastily and angrily than usual.

Yeah, something was up, and it wasn't just the bottom of the glass.
