2007's Mantra: Embracing Change

As I talk with people in my circle of trust, I hear about the different changes that are going on. Some change can benefit for a brighter future such as a change of careers or a change in a relationship (i.e. ' getting married, breaking up or moving in with your significant other). The mantra for the year should be embracing change.

We are all creatures of habit who go about everyday life like Jack Nicholson's character, Melvin, does in AS GOOD AS IT GETS. That's comfortable and albeit very safe in a world that keeps changing all around us. Trust me; I am definitely one of those people who get thrown rather easily when something in my daily routine screws up my aura. Why is it that we are resistant when it comes down to making a change? Why are we reticent about trying something new that takes us out of our comfort zone? Why do we turn left instead of right? Burning questions; when you are older, change becomes increasingly difficult to grasp. It's about as useless as rubber lips on a woodpecker. You're basically just set in your ways.

For me, change has been so far a wonderful feeling. I set a lot of life goals for myself and I plan on achieving these goals as life is too short to stay dormant. I challenge each and every one of you to go outside the realm of your comfort zone and experience things you've never done. Live everyday like it's going to be your last. Live life without any regrets and take chances. I read somewhere this saying: 'Change always comes bearing gifts.' It's your choice whether you want to embrace it. You've got nothing to lose, but a HELL OF A LOT to gain.
