Come Join The Circle

As day was beginning, I mused at your being
As dawn's early mist rolled the darkness away.....
Within you, young lambs and black rooks and a robin,
Within me a voice seemed to call me to play.
A memory from lives past now stirrred in your presence
Within you now things I at first did not see
And I stood in your temple of quiet contemplation
And heard your soft voice as you called out to me
Come join the circle its's time for the dancing,
Step into the middle with a one two and three.....
Be free from all sorrows, Rise up in life's glory,
Come join the circle, we'll set your soul free.

I wove in and out of contorted stone faces,
Each telling their story, each calling to me.
Their hands laced in my hands, we all linked together
And what had been hidden was now clear to see.
As I joined the circle they all started dancing
My head said 'You're crazy, they're just Sarsen Stone! '
My heart said 'Don't listen, they're living and breathing'
And we all danced together, though I was alone.

As the dance ended, I felt my soul soaring...
Those soft arms about me, so tender and kind!
Had I been touched by faeries or angels or spirit?
Or were all those dancers a trick of the mind?
My heart filled with music, my spirit was singing....
I felt like my being now shone in the sun!
And Mother Earth, Goddess, all power of creation,
I'll try now to finish what you have begun.

Avebury Stone circle, it's so hard to leave you,
I feel your arms hold me as I walk away!
Your Sarsen stone faces all bid me to linger,
And dance in your circle for just one more day.......
So Come join the circle its's time for the dancing,
Step into the middle with a one two and three.....
Be free from all sorrows, Rise up in life's glory,
Come join the circle, we'll set your soul free.

A good poem but why did it remind me of a cult movie of the 70s 'The Wicker Man'. Joking aside-you got talent!

Very nice, very lyrical! good use of meter and rhyme. I only stumbled once in reading it and that was on the word "contemplation." I also could imagine singing this. I agree with Denise that it could be shortened a bit. You'll have to look at it carefully though because there are a lot of things happening in here that you wouldn't want to omit.

I like this it speaks to me in a deep way. The "come join the circles...' were choruses for me, and resting places. is this a song?
I think it needs to be stripped down a little.
