Give In or Give Up
well what are you waiting for? she's standing here, heart stitched to her sleeve
eyes cast down, unsure and waiting, lips bitten, bleeding, trembling, drawn tight
your head is buried in the sand, slow sinking to sea
caught in crabs' claws and sifting through the shores
peaking in the piper's clam pot, looking for a pearl
Poseidon's eye has never blinked
he's watched you slay the sunrise
well, tell her, what are you waiting for
she's burning holes into the floor with tears that eat like acid
her skin's grown pale from lack of light
you keep stealing her sunsets, feeding them to the sharks
so, what are you waiting for?
you've paid the piper, bought your pearl, it's hiding in the sand
she's turning cheeks against the wind, and fighting off the burn
her heart's stitched to her sleeve, and yes, that's blood
tell her, what is it that you're waiting for
Poseidon's faithful daughter, singing in the foam
she's waiting, dying, yearning for the dawn to eve
rise to your feet, are you done writing this tragedy?
look into her eyes, coward, why are you so afraid?
tell her what you've been waiting for
she's blue as the deepest depths and just as still
so what are you waiting for?
the more you wait
the longer her kiss has to brew the poison
and one touch, and you'll find yourself
dining with Davey at his locker
