"I'm sorry."

for what I'm about to say,
But listen, please, because it's better this way.
Forever I've loved you, and you know that is true,
But something feels broken, even when I'm with you.
When our hands touch, it just doesn't feel right,
And I'm so sorry, because I'm leaving you tonight.
My bags are waiting, by the staircase, for nine,
So when that door closes, if a heart breaks then it's mine.
You are better than me, and I know that I've failed this,
Just don't cry for me love, soon you'll find true bliss.
I know, you'll be lonely, but don't wait,
Because I'm not coming back, it just isn't fate.
Another will find you, and your love will be stronger,
You heart will pine for us, for our love, no longer.
Here I will sit, by my window til two,
And I'll realize without you, there's nothing to view.
But this is my fault, and I'll have waited too long,
What I am saying, is that I have to end our song.
Though, I really do love you, forever you know,
There's just something there that doesn't quite show.
It's like when I'm with you, nothing is real
And we play out our roles like there's nothing to feel.
It just doesn't seem true, and it doesn't seem fair
So I'm leaving and I have to make you believe I don't care.
If I could stay, oh god how I would.
But there's nothing you can say to make me stay; I probably should
It may seem harsh, but something about you and me just doesn't fit
And so I must break away, tear out your heart, with one tiny slit
I'm writing to end this, to end us today
i just never knew it would be so hard to say exactly what I needed to say

That's nice. It's a bittersweet poem. Which is my favorite sort of poem. Lovely indeed.

You actually took the time to write in meter rather than the poetry-like prose that we've all seen. Nice work.
