Friday night I had a team dinner at the local spanish restaurant "torros"

I thougth Team Dinners had gone out the window and the last few I had attended had very few numbers and when I discussed with other Managers about the turnout of my team they implied that this does not happen much anymore.

13 out of the 14 staff in my group attended, I was very impessed by the turnout.

What was interesting as an observer and a participant was the difference in generations. My team spans an age group from 20 year olds to 60 year olds.

The mix is quite good and they get along quite well. What I did find interesting was the sense of humour and how mine seemed to differ so much from Gen Y.

I always think about Gen Y, having everything at their fingertips, having life knowledge without actually experiencing it and wondering whether it does really make a difference. Is it just the desensitising from TV realism overload.

I am about to turn 38, so I think I am a Gen X. I have had the experiences and done everything that is now only discussed in chat rooms and seen on "REAL TV" programming.

Oh well , just something for me to consider further as I contemplate the generation my own child will fall into.
