Single at the Grocery Store

It was the day for grocery shopping. I always regret this day more than usual'¦ I was already feeling depressed about not having a date at my best friends wedding yesterday, now I had to go and face the singleness again at the stupid grocery store. Just another place to remind me how little I need knowing I am the only one at home right now that needs food. I also love to cook, but it doesn't cut it when you have no one else to share it with. It just doesn't taste the same. This particular day, it was raining but it was very hot outside. The mugginess seemed to cling to me and cause me to feel so heavy and weighted down. It took all I had to even get out out of the car.

Did I tell you how much I hate being single? For some dumb reason I seem to have accepted this as my identity. Whenever you meet someone for the first time, this is usually brought up and it is placed upon you like you are some poor broken soul. Today it is more and more common but still seems to be frowned upon. Whether it's your fault or not ' you are marked as 'something must be wrong with her'¦'

Don't we all assume that if a person is single, it must be there choice? Or, it is because they were involved at one time with someone with whom they made a bad decision and then feel sorry for them because they got screwed? So, we automatically tag them with some label of this sort and we either feel pity for them or get away from them as soon as we have the chance. Unless that is that you are single too. Then, the move is on and you dig in to see what you have in common.

I have yet to meet someone new at the grocery store. But, really what a great place ' you must think they may be feeling the way you do and why not try to interact? The big question you must pursue first though is finding out if they are truly single or not. Just look in their cart, it can give you a pretty good inclination.
