Stranger
Alone in the silence I think of you,
And I wonder what has brought you here to this place
A drunken world filled with beer and liquor
Where a proverbial stupor has permanently been put upon you,
Shielding your eyes to what is really in front of you
To me you are blind,
Misguided by the need to feel dangerous;
And by the thought that laws do not apply to you.
Standing lonely and helpless, I stare into your cold blank eyes,
And I see a stranger.
A person who I used to know so well.
Before you conformed to the evil expectations of society,
And became the man I now see as nonexistent.
The days when you were funny, charming, and witty are gone forever.
There aren't even traces of the things I used to adore.
What happened to the man I fell in love with?
Did he just disappear?
Or did he become someone new?
A never-ending array of lies and heartache....
