And just like that the chemicals react

A metaphor to a mind

Leave all my poetry behind

When I look into those eyes

pressure applied

release a breath

you stole me from the sky

and taught me how to fly.

For such a short, lyrical poem, there is really a lot going on. I particularly like the last two lines; 'you stole me from the sky / and taught me how to fly'. What that implies exactly, I'm not sure, but it is something I will think about for the rest of the day. If the narrator was already in the sky, why then would he/she/it need to learn to fly? Fascinating, because when applied to life, and as a metaphor, as the first line hints at, the last two lines make perfect sense.

One thing I like and dislike at the same time is how the poem opens up. I like the title, the but the first two lines come off as a fairy tale, which is tantalizing in one respect, but reminds me of a song by Evanescence on the other hand. Not sure what you were going for exactly, but just a thought. I like the general idea behind the poem, whatever that may be, I could decipher it all day long. Anyway, very enjoyable for such a short poem. Thanks for the read.
