Oh, tempered justice, how you roar
With unrelenting hands of inquiry
Coveting the sanctioned, bloodstained floor
Structured will of impunity
You do forsake
The risk of acting in mistake
Is vengeance what we've come here for?
What callous justice mankind endorses
When teetering amongst the unseen forces
With such responsibility the scrupulous declare
The honor in killing a bonded man
And all are muted
For only in a traitor's mouths it is disputed
Sadistic morality unites us all
To the point of our enslavement -
And nothing much more is there to it
Blood must hit the pavement
But why does my heart so refuse it?

I agree this would be great read aloud, the rhythm and structure would work well. You make a very important point, and I'm always glad to see writers addressing this sort of issue.

To the point of our enslavement - '-how very true! It takes strength not to get caught up in this.
