The Mighty

Scales dark and deep
Within your heart I sleep.
Down in the depths
Hidden in the mountain.

I want to feel your presence
Surrounded by your essence.
Sulfur and flame
Blue-green glory.

In your gaze, I am frozen
My life you have chosen
Take me away
Show me the glory of the skies.

In your mighty power
I am speechless this hour
Ready to sacrifice
My heart and soul to you.

Blessed are my eyes to see
What true magnificence can be.
Talons strong and sharp
Wings wide and wondrous.

On your back, I will fly
Counting as the stars go by.
Your roar echoes on the wind
All for freedom and fate.

Take me higher into the night
Deep in the sky, I take flight.
Oh mighty dragon
I am yours for eternity.

Thank you so much. And I don't think that I've read Patty Briggs. Is she on EditRed or book published?

Hmmm... I like your rhyme scheme: aabc. It works; makes each verse a bit like a haiku.

Have you read Patty Briggs?
