Advice of an Admirer

You're chasing the feathers
Of a bird that's flying away.
And you know that he flies
To a lady with whom he'll stay.

So why in the world can you say you love him?
How can you say he's the only one?
He says those things to have two nests
In which he can have some fun.

It's not fair to you,
It's not fair to me
And he's not gonna help
You become who you want to be

He's nothing but a liar,
And certainly a joke_
I could have even told you that
After he and I first spoke.

Sure, it's up to you,
And I've made mistakes too,
But as your friend, I would say
That he's no good for you.

Ah, the indiscretions this discribes... great advice. If only it was so easy for some to see as plainly as this!

I am not a fan of rhyme either but it works here simply because this feels like a song to me and the subject matter would work well in song form actually. the first stanza is a little 'full' imo (can't really explain it other than that: you know, kind of 'wordy' compared to the other stanzas) but that doesn't really detract that much from the rest. nonetheless just remember: you can give all the advice you want, but if they don't wanna hear it you might as well quit talking. ;)

You know, I got so caught up reading this that I didnt even notice the rhyming words. And you know how rhymes make me nauseous.. lol.. but this didn't. Nicely written.

I've known plenty of people who refused to take that advise.

Beautifully written. Thanks for sharing.
