Vanquish Now the Gods
Hush now! Still the warbling of thy voice!
Oh! Bitter solitary child
So long adrift upon this mortal, seething sea of rage and pain
Thy tears do but the hateful gods beguile
And all the while
They feast upon the ruined hope of mortal man
That rises from our dark defile
Be still! Oh bitter heart!
Taint not the erstwhile joys of long spent youth
With black and icy roiling fog of thought
Suppress thy dear bought knowledge of the night
Of feebleness and age
Kill now the carrion thoughts that wander through thy lonely mind
And rant and rave and rip and rend the barriers of thy corporeal, bloody cage.
Hush now! Still thy thoughts!
Snuff out the candle of thy soul
Feed not the cursed gods of night with the vapours of thy pain
Flee now! Flee the pain of mortal life
Abandon thou thy mother and thy wife
Thy father's tears now wash away with blood
Flee far from life of anguish and of strife
Swiftly, fall upon thy knife
'Tis all the will of those above
Who crave thee Fall! In token of thy love.
