Just a poem

This is a poem a friend and I wrote for literature class where we had to take the first line of a poem and then write it like our own.

I try to hold you in my mind's million eyes,
Yet it remains elusive amidst wistful sighs;
Like holding water in my hands.
From my mind, your image disbands.

A walk down memory's lane:
The days were wild and insane;
Moments of laughter and riotous fun,
Whispered promises in the shadow of the sun.

I try to hold you in my mind's million eyes,
Yet you are distorted with deceit and lies.
Memories so dear to me that never were;
Trust: Man's one enemy, his greatest blunder!
