You say your name sounds like a song
you walk like you're about to curtsy

If I had your smile I would win
if I wore that wet-look lipstick

What about that diploma you held up
what is that spot on the front of your dress

All that preparation and checking turnaround
all your changes sucked down that hole

Where did the time go your silent question
where have we left our twin footprints

You take it so hard this reality slapping
what's the deal being as old as Johnny Rotten?

Mystery friend. Is she gone? Was she real? Did she get an "early out"?

I like this poem. No easy criticisms to offer you. My dark mind asks, was she shot? All the readiness wasted?
