Static Clouds
Birth
-------
There was a time and a place
Long before
Where babies would go
There were no parents
Or grown ups allowed
For want of a better world,
A better place to grow
Keepers of the light,
They'd guide you from birth,
As the passage read:
'Heaven awaits the men of earth'
So to each and every gateway
A fairy was born,
A guardian of the light
Heaven sent to raise
And be risen without harm
And ahead of all else
One thing they'd make sure of
That no harm would come knocking
Or could ever form
You see there was no ill feeling
Between heaven and earth
For this was the only birth they knew,
And no suffering in the next life
Could ever bloom
From a child kept
From a mother's womb
"Bred with strength and honour"
they'd written
"...beneath the heaven's great silver acres"
"...and only then you'll see the light"
"...The journey you must take"
And be ready to meet your maker...
And there was a time, if only for a while
That there was peace'¦
Death
------
From your 100th year on earth
Or so,
Buried beneath your flesh
You may find one night...
A strong illumination
A pulsing bright light
But before you arouse suspision
Ignore your entice for concern
For this is the glow you've been waiting for,
For all of the children who had become men
Preparing all of the well learnt,
For your final ascent...
When seven days pass,
Should you still glow,
A fluorescent grey hummer
Shining through,
Revealing the true men
Where flesh growth fades
To close your eyes
And to be shown
That you are ready to leave,
To return home
Life
-----
This boy hasn't shone for a while now
But they say if you squint real hard,
You can still see a distant pulse...
An SOS to the heavens receeds,
Unearthing a motherley love
Some time ago he stabbed at his guardian
As she dropped and she burnt out loud
A fire that enraged the heavens above
As he smiled
Where he could finally be,
A place he's grown much too attatched to leave
From his mind left wandering free
But this never did stop the boy however
From using the light to see
To relax his mind
And to clear his heart
Of all of the lies they'd decree,
Where they would speak of the heavens
for instance,
Of when they'd shut their eyes,
This boy could never care
Nor see,
He did not picture the rainbow skies
Or silver branches
Nor did he ever try
As far as this boy was concerned
He had found his contention,
No one was gonna tell him what to do,
No more
And he was glad
To watch each of them disappear from earth
Heaven
-------
And now centuries past
And a boy bathes in the light
Deep within a sleep
Long deprived
From a world he intends to keep
(In stasis of child)
And long before now,
Up above in the skies
A guardian did make her decision
Her everlasting vow:
'For if with child on earth
Could feel more than in dreams,
Than a love between kingdoms
Eternally unseen...'
And deep within the static
Their relationship sinks in,
She stares at him through snow filled eyes
And he glares back,
All day and all night
In a beer soaked arm chair
As his favourite show begins...
