Count On Me

As the wind's cool mellow
Calms the wave like the easy way
Of breathing through a bright brass baritone
That bellows a confirming refrain
holding the melody home.

As the spattered ping ping ping
Of droplets of warm summer rain
Deep down in the bayou
Resonates upon the trim tin roof
Of the broad cocooning sleeping porch.

As the warm fluffy down
Knitted into the flannel cover
That beats gently off the cold
That makes you feel home again
Swaddled, as a baby.

As the taste of Thanksgiving
Pulls you back to the days
When you yourself knew love
And hope and serene bliss
Enough that calmed you.

I am something you can count on
To be sure

You really captured the feeling of comfort in this piece. I could feel the love that you have for the person to whom you wrote this poem. I loved the imagery and the similis. I truly enjoyed reading it.

This is a piece of calm in this storm of life that holds a touch of sadness and comfort at the same time. A beautifully done piece. Great job.

I read this on a clear sunny California morning. It's so well written I could feel the humidity. I love the way you gently slowed the pace more by adding the automatic Thanksgiving trigger of comfort.
I believe you.
