The Coldest Feet

Leaving so soon?
Destroying my Winter
One wedding at a time.
You, are not in the pews
With me, each time I say goodbye
Each snowflake, different, blown away
On the Wind's request.

You
Stand before a crowd
In front of pews of
Myself, without me there.

But I am there, at every one,
Wishing for the emptiness
To consume
Destroy the feelings
Remaining as the rose petals
Brown, whither and die.

Roses, bound in bride's curls,
Fade faster than the blush
Within her cheeks,
Whither as quick as your love
Blossomed.

In the last church pew I sit,
Listening to missed notes
Fumbling hands during the
Bride's entrance,

You witness concern
Carving malice into her
Eyes.

She knows.

Beneath faƧades of certainty
My picture waits,
Haunts and distorts
Current ideas of happiness.

She knows.

She voices fallacy,
Saying I'm not in
Your life.

I remain a drunken
Phone call away, with
The thoughts at the
Forefront of your mind
And the 'I love you' 's
With my face in mind.

She knows.

The cold stabs of
Knowledge painfully
Reinforce the truth of
Lie.

She knows

This too shall pass.

I was reading this, and as I went through it farther and farther, I kept saying to myself, "damn, now that's solid", then I kept reading and reading and then saw all the comments. Then, all I could say was........DAMN! Now that's some good stuff right there! :)

Okay Vermin. I am sorry you felt you had the need to attack me the way you did. First off, I feel that your comment is unwarrented both in content and in tone.
Perhaps you are unsure of the definition for the word pew. Pew as defined by my unabridged dictionary: "pew: n. 1 (in a church) one of a number of fixed, benchlike seats with backs, accessible aisles, for the use of the congragation."
Granted I did use the word pew more than once, but it was intentional.

This was my favourite part. There is so much emotion here, Theresa. So much pain. It spoke to me in ways that you could never explain yourself. I loved it.
