the person

crawling over the deathly beast
i call self
to raise up
look at the reflection in a mirror

and think;

who is that daunting, selfish thing
i see staring back at me

running bony fragmented fingers
over tired skin
wrinkled eyes
huffing and puffing in utter disgust

and again knowing
another day has been spent
not liking that thing i see
that thing i've become

in some unwitting manner

and yet;

deep in the recesses of some childlike space
hidden far away in the back of my heart

stirs the hope that keeps me going
fuels my dreams
keeps me looking
for the reflection i know i'll one day see

and realize

i am finally the person
i'd like to see

This is rich! Really enjoy the details. Your outrage is powerful - the ability to deconstruct yourself, while remaining hopeful.

"crawling over the deathly beast
i call self"
&
"deep in the recesses of some childlike space
hidden far away in the back of my heart"
- to collect just a couple of the strange images.

In other words, helluva write.
