The Little Things

If I lived in a perfect world
You'd hear my thoughts before I knew them
You'd recognize them sounding synonymous with your name from my lips
You'd feel them in each touch
Mouth to forehead
Lip to cheek
Tongue to neck tip of ear
Back of knee elbow
Inner thigh
You'd smell them early morning
Sliding easy from breath slightly
Reminiscent of your scent night before
You'd understand
You'd see stability in the chocolate of my eyes
Safety in its sparkle
If I had a dimple
You'd call it home
Consider it your hiding place
You would believe
Convinced by the way I opened a door for you
Saved you from stumbling
Looked you in the eye as I listened
Made you steak for breakfast
Done just right
Served still steaming from the middle
Laid with you til midday
Fried you eggs at midnight
Satisfying your craving though
Tired from the joy-filled labor of you me
Satisfying our cravings
You would never question
You'd know
There would be no need for journals
No more poems
No late nights balled up paper broken pencils empty pens strewn about our bed
No writer's block
Me catlike scraping walls of my mind for a single word to move me
You
Make me yours
No awkward conversations
You reading between the lines of my laugh
Me struggling to choose between bare naked truth and
Well-cloaked safely hidden escape through giggle
We would get each other
Through the brushing of bodies in early morning passing
The mistaken holding of hands in a one motion two person grab for the remote
The way I would hand you the soap in the shower
Without you ever asking
The way I never told but
Better acquainted with me than I am with myself
You assumed I like tofu, salmon, wheat bread, bean sprouts,
All things you said you consider of the earth
The way I never needed to hear u say it
But still knew one day I would give you my heart
Just that easy
We would Be
And it wouldn't matter if anyone else agreed
Because
We would never think
Or care
To ask their opinions
We'd be sure
In the way those lilac's in my mother's garden
Know just when to blossom
Same time every year
In the way the leaves know exactly when to let go
And return again
In a world all natural
Unfettered by pre-thought
We would exist artlessly
And there would never be a need for spoken expression
Because every thought I've ever had you would have already tasted
In the meals I prepared for you and our children
You would have sensed them in the way I tended to our home
And you would have seen them clear
Nightly
As you lay dreaming of you I
We
Many eternities
Together
We
Would understand without a whispered word
That each day one wakes to a world of hundreds of thousands and more
Craving only the presence of one other
That miracle alone
That sensation of shared spirit
Says I love you
Likewise
You love '¦

Nice use of metaphores, I like the dimple as a hiding place. Could be edited a little, shorten some. Otherwise nice work.
